Mario Bellini Area Floor Lamp 210
The Area 210 floor lamp is part of a series of table, floor, wall and ceiling lamps designed by Mario Bellini for Artemide in 1974. The name 160 refers to the stand height and the rod and base were made of white painted metal and have a large shade made of paper-like foil. Bellini says he designed the lamps with the intangible nature of light in mind. Bellini did not want to reduce these lamps to the creation of an object, but rather to a synthesis of gesture and effect. The gesture of rotating a translucent film to direct and diffuse light; and the effect of the impossible meeting of the 45 cm square sheet and the five bulges that deform it. The result is an exceptionally beautiful and unique piece of lighting through the collaboration of one of Italy’s greatest architects and its most legendary producer, Artemide. Area 210 is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
The lamp is in good vintage condition and fully functional and has an E27 socket. The lamp requires a frosted light bulb with a silver top, which we will supply to you.
