Flavio Poli Monumental Sconces for Hotel Bristol, Bolzano, 1954
Pair of sconces designed by Flavio Poli in 1954 for the Hotel Bristol in Bolzano, Italy and created by Seguso, one of Murano’s most highly regarded glass workshops, four E14 sockets inside.
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a glass designer based in Venice, Italy. Poli joined the company Seguso Vetri d’Arte in 1934 as a design consultant. He worked with both Angelo and Archimede Seguso during his tenure at the company. During Poli’s association with Seguso, the company exhibited pieces at the 1935 Brussels Worlds Fair, 1936 Milan Triennale and 1937 Paris World Fair. Some of his most impressive work, however, dates from the 1950s. Recently, Poli’s work was featured in an exhibit of Seguso Vetri d’Arte at the Design Museum, Ghent.
