Brutalist Copper Green Glass Bowl by Marcello Fantoni
An Italian Brutalist torch cut copper bowl with green glass inlay by Marcello Fantoni, circa 1950 included 3 ememaled copper spoons. “Brutalist” refers to an aggressive 20th century style characterized by rough textures and often unfinished materials. Fantoni (1915-2011) was a strong proponent of “brutalism”, his archaic stylizations inspired by Etruscan models. He opened the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in 1936, and is considered one of the masters of mid century figurative and abstract ceramic and metal works.
