Memphis Tool Kit Set by Koyo Sangyo, Japan, 1980s

Rare tool kit designed by Koyo Sangyo, Japan, 1980s. This complete set represents the ‘Memphis’ period and includes: a handsaws, a Hammer, two screwdrivers and five packages of nails all in the original plastic bag. The typical soft colors used are a strong resemblance of this era, known for it different shapes and forms, often out of proportion and almost humorous. The original Memphis Group was an Italian design and architecture group founded in Milan by Ettore Sottsass in 1981 that designed Postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass and metal objects from 1981 to 1987. The Memphis Group’s work often incorporated plastic laminate and was characterized by ephemeral design featuring colorful decoration and asymmetrical shapes, sometimes arbitrarily alluding to exotic or earlier styles.

40 H x 36 B x 4 D cm.
