Franz Xaver Lutz Black Leather Chimney Chair Germany 1958
Franz Xaver Lutz for WK Verband, ‘Chimney’ chair, oak and patinated black leather, Germany, 1958. This early Chimney chair by Franz Xaver Lutz bear strong resemblances to Spanish and Scandinavian hunting chairs. The design is aptly named Chimney chair as these types of lounge chairs are often used to relax by a fire. The slightly sloped back is designed in order to support the human body. The frame is solid and the two front legs rise slightly upwards, highlighting the sharp edge where the frame bends downwards to form the legs.
